Nurturing home-grown development in South Africa www.thatu.org |
Progress despite the crunch
Thanks to donations through standing orders and
one-off gifts from our supporters, Thatu is providing more help for
disadvantaged communities wanting to grow food in South Africa.
2010 was a difficult year for charities, and Thatu
was no exception. But, determined not to let needy people down and thanks
to these donations, we met our 2010 pledges to all three projects.
This year two projects have received a much-needed
but smaller boost from Thatu helping them towards sustainability. Of
course, we would love to give more. The Projects Overcoming difficulties such as extreme weather,
vandalism and straying animals, Ntombenhle Mtambo in KwaZulu-Natal will
continue to be able to guide and support the Midland Meander Association
Education Project’s school gardens that Thatu helped create over the past
two years. They are all doing well and we need to ensure continuity as
pupils and staff move on. Sustaining it
The economic situation in South Africa is hitting the
poorest hardest. Enabling people to grow nutritious food is becoming even
more important. Please spread the word about Thatu’s work and let us know of any one or any organisation you think it worth us approaching for support. And once again many thanks from the gardeners of South Africa, and from us at Thatu. Please help Thatu and low income communities in South Africa by passing this newsletter on to a friend or colleague. And talk to people about our work, and the huge needs that we can actually start to do something about. We are making a difference.
Please DONATE.
